Donald W. Duncan

Artistic Director & Conductor

Donald W. Duncan was appointed by the Board of Directors in Fall 2022 as the successor to Jane Morlan, retired conductor of the Fountain Inn Chorale. He began his work with the Fountain Inn Chorale in January 2023. 

Donald currently serves as Director of Liturgy and Music at Christ Church Episcopal in Greenville, South Carolina, where he manages and coordinates the many musical and liturgical offerings of a large and active 4,000 member parish. At Christ Church he conducts the semi-professional Christ Church Parish Choir, serves as principal organist, and supervises a departmental staff with nearly 400 volunteers involved in liturgy and music. 

Prior to his appointment at Christ Church in 2016, he spent 13 years in Tyler, Texas. During that time he served as Artistic & Executive Director of the Tyler Civic Chorale (2006-2016), Director of Music and Organist at the First Presbyterian Church of Tyler (2007-2016), Precentor and Organist/Choirmaster at Christ Church, Tyler (2003-2007), Founding Director of the Choir School of East Texas (2006-2007), and Organist at Temple Beth El (2009-2016). He holds the Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Lyon College, and the Master of Music degree in Sacred Music from the University of Memphis.

Vance Jenkins

Accompanist

A proud former student of Dr. Virginia Uldrick, Vance Jenkins is a native Greenvillian whose church music service spans four decades. Presently, he is Director of Music & Principal Organist at Buncombe Street Methodist Church of Greenville. Vance’s piano studies were with the late Bobbie S. Redick, the late Erma Riggins Looper, John Kenneth Adams at the University of South Carolina, and the late Dr. David Gibson at Furman University. In addition, he studied voice with Dr. Susan Lyle, the late Dr. Virginia Uldrick, Dr. Bingham Vick, and the late Dr. Arpad Darazs. He has sung with the South Carolina Bach Society and the  Greenville Chorale, where he was bass-baritone soloist in several of the Chorale’s Peace Center performances.

 Vance holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from the University of South Carolina and Master’s Degree in English from Furman University and the University of Oxford (Lincoln College), respectively. A retired educator, Vance has taught at The South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, the Greenville Technical Charter High School where he served as Master Teacher and Instructor in English Language and Literature, as well as having taught as an adjunct professor of English at Furman University. Vance is the recipient of the 2010 Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation Excellence in Education Award and was a finalist for Greenville County’s 2014 Teacher of the Year and Furman University’s Meritorious Teaching Award in the University’s Undergraduate Evening Studies division.
